On the slopes of Bottelary Hills bordering Stellenbosch, is Hartenberg, a family estate where nature provides the perfect backdrop to grow, produce and share award-winning wines.
Winter invites you to intimate fireside lunches and sumptuous reds, smoky charcuterie and olives, and sensorial cellar tours. The Wetland Conservation Area, alongside the vineyards, makes for a beautiful setting for walks and shared family fun.
WINTER WARMING SOUP
Snuggle up in front of the cosy fireplace with a glass of wine and bowl of delicious soup inspired by local produce. On offer at the moment is a potato and leek soup with crispy bacon and freshly baked farm loaf for R85. The Estate Chardonnay pairs beautifully with it.
Comes August and they will offer tomato soup with a croque monsieur (toasted ham and cheese sandwich) served with Estate Merlot 2015 (recent Gold Medal winner from Decanter Wine Awards 2018).
The famous Hartenburger is a beef patty topped with grilled cheese and bacon on a bun, served with potato wedges or a side salad, R95. (Banting option available)
The vertical tasting is a hit and in August the focus will be on Cabernet Sauvignon. Taste three vintages for R110.
