Weekend highlights of #Stellenblog 2017
#Stellenblog has kicked off with a bang! Our bloggers are settled into Stellenbosch after a whirlwind three days of adventure. Plenty of delicious food and superb wines have been consumed over these jam packed three days and they got up to a fair bit of fun in Cape Town as well, which is just a 40 minute drive from Stellenbosch.
Day 1 saw the first of our crew checked into the iconic Oude Werf Hotel, followed by a Cape Malay welcome feast at Delheim wines. Their laughing and the sharing of stories continued over the dessert pairing of wine and cupcakes that is unique to Delheim.
The group travelled an easy 30 minutes to Cape Town to explore the City for the day. The crew split into two groups with some enjoying some downhill scootering on Signal Hill while the rest exlored the gems of the CBD. Afterwards the group met up to share a coffee and chocolate pairing at the famous Honest Chocolate. As if this wasn't enough they were then whisked away for a spot of lunch and an exclusive site tour of the brand new Silo Hotel at the V&A Waterfront. After lunch the crew split back into their groups with the one group ending off the day with a gin tasting at Hope on Hopkins and the other taking an incredible guided art walk with Juma from Route Street Art. Once all this was over our crew happily headed back to Stellenbosch to check into their new location for the night, beautiful Spier Hotel.
After a leisurely breakfast at the Spier Hotel the crew set out for Avontuur Estate, where they enjoyed a self guided walk through the grounds, taking in the stunning views and petting the horses followed by Avontuur's new and delectable wine and fudge pairing. A quick drive down the road, they headed for a light lunch at Blaauwklippen Market nearby. Late afternoon saw the rest of the crew arriving for their check in at Spier hotel before once again being whisked away for the famous Boerebraai at Middelvlei. The #Shotleft crew joined in on the fun for a night filled with plenty of laughter, healthy sense of competition and great company.
