Highlights from the final day of #Stellenblog

  • May 15, 2017

The final day of #Stellenblog arrived, but long before the crew could begin to feel any tinge of sadness, hungry bellies needed to be filled and MCC needed to be drunk. Our crew set off on route to the beautiful Tokara Wine Estate for a last leisurely ride between the hills of the Banghoek Valley. It was a beautiful crisp autumn morning, clear blue skies and views for days. Our crew immediately fell in love with the sprawling landscapes of Tokara, but before they could meander through the alluring art gardens, they were treated to an olive oil pairing. They were delighted by the subtle nuance of flavors in the renowed olive oils and quickly scoffed it down with the bread and olive tapanades. Tasting completed they headed off on the much anticipated art walk, taking in the incredible sculptures while working up an appetite for breakfast as they made their way to the Delicatessen.

Breakfast was served with the friendliest of smiles, MCC was poured and conversation bounced across the table. A little celebration of cake and cheers was had for our crew member Fhatwani Mukheli, who was celebrating his birthday that very day! Hunger satiated and hearts happy, the crew made their way outside for a unimaginable surprise. A fleet of Cape Side Cars waiting to take them on a last ride through Stellenbosch!

After a series of posing and mini photo shoots with the motor cycles our crew excitedly set off for their final venue, Stellenbosch Vineyards. It was truly something else doing the drive with Cape Side Cars, a first for all of our crew and no doubt an unforgettable memory. The crew reached Stellenbosch Vineyards elated and ready for a tasting and lunch at The Bus Stop. It was fun, interactive and with guessing games during the tasting, with some of the crew winning a bottle or two in a lucky draw! Then it was onto a quick barrel tasting before heading across the bridge to enjoy a hearty lunch on the island.

The crew tucked into some seriously delicious woodfired pizzas, burgers and waffles at The Bus Stop and enjoyed some gin fizz and beer from their menu too. The afternoon had gone by so quickly and before they knew it, it was time to say goodbye to Stellenbosch and #Stellenblog. A quick bag check in the van, hugs and sad goodbyes inbetween, our crew were off to their next adventures. No doubt sad to leave so soon but forever in love with Stellenbosch and its stories.
