Fleur du Cap wines meld with exotic salts at Die Bergkelder

  • October 11, 2014 | by Fleur du Cap at Die Bergkelder

If a salty snack makes you tick, Die Bergkelder in Stellenbosch is the place to be. To complement their daily Fleur du Cap Wine & Salt Tastings the team has scoured the world to source a range of exotic salts that is now available for purchase at this famous mountain cellar.

With everything from indigenous Khoisan, Caviar and Oryx Desert salt to exotic Red Alaea and Black Lava salt from Hawaii, pink Murray River Salt from Down Under and rare Persian Blue Salt from Iran, even salt connoisseurs will find a favourite to take home. For those who enjoy making a statement, Kala Namak Salt will do just the trick. Referred to as "Poepsout", by Salt Aficionado Chef Craig Cormack, this salt has a rather interesting sulphuric smell and works wonders with buttered popcorn.
