Eating Stellenbosch: 5 Places to get your foodie fix
Nothing pairs with great wine like fantastic food. Stellenbosch is known as one of the top foodie destinations in South Africa - a reputation that becomes more well-deserved with every bite I take in the winelands.
Here are 5 of the best places in Stellenbosch to get your foodie fix:
1. Terroir at Kleine Zalze
Consistently voted as one of the best restaurants in South Africa and almost always fully booked, I have yet to have an average meal at Terroir. Not only is the setting lovely, but so is the staff. Terroir's signature prawn rissotto is always perfect and the seasonal menu is always mouthwatering. Paired with the farm's excellent wines, this is a not-to-be-missed foodie experience.

2. Bistro 13 at Welmoed Estate
As relative newcomers to the Stellenbosch food scene, Nic and Roxy have earned their stripes with simple, beautiful, delicious food and have fast become on of the favourites amongst the locals - a nod to their excellence for sure!

3. Jordan at Jordan Wines
Chef George Jardine has a reputation for serving outstanding plates of food - a reputation which he deserves. The restaurant is often fully booked weeks in advance, but the Bakery at Jordan is a worthy alternative. Enjoy delicious food, beautiful wines and views for days.

4. 96 Winery Road at Ken Forrester
Taking my dad out for dinner is one of my life's most stressfull challenges. He loves extensive menus, outrageously good service and sweet wine and nothing else will do. When, at a recent family dinner, we sat down at the table at 96 Winery Road, I was expecting a hostile meal. But my dad loved it all - the venue, the wait staff, the food and the wine. We will definitely be back!

5. Delheim Garden Restaurant at Delheim
Known for their hearty German fare, the restaurant at Delheim serves plates of cheeses, meats and breads, paired with their great wines. They also grow their own veggies and serve free-range and organic produce.
